Unheralded local lad Lalit Kumar Sahu stole the show on the concluding day of the 12th Youth Boys & Girls, 53rd Men and 29th Women Junior National Weightlifting Championships, grabbing two gold medals in youth boys’ 94kg category here at Utkal Karate School today. Riding on the stunning success of Lalit, host Odisha emerged youth boys’ team champions, bagging a total of 12 medals, which included two gold, five bronze and five silver medals.
Maharashtra lifters asserted supremacy in the five-day championships, winning team titles in youth girls, junior women and finishing runners-up in youth boys and junior men sections. Haryana won the team title in junior men group, while Manipur finished runners-up in youth girls and junior women divisions.
